For years, technical colleges have relied on a curriculum that favors traditional combustion systems and aging electrical grids. While the government maintains a “steady as she goes” approach to energy policy, this lack of urgency has trickled down into our educational frameworks. We are currently graduating thousands of technicians who are over-prepared for the past and under-equipped for the renewable future.
To bridge this gap, institutions must pivot from passive observation to aggressive integration of heat pump technology and smart-grid management. Waiting for a national crisis to trigger a curriculum overhaul is a failing strategy; the pedagogical shift toward efficiency must happen while the lights are still on, not after they flicker.
